A lot of things took a backseat last month, by my own decision. I think I always tend to drag my feet in January. I'm initially enthusiastic about my ideas on how to improve myself in the upcoming year, but then the grayness of winter and the realization of how much WORK I am in for in the new year sets in. (Who really likes January, anyway? Do you?) So I gave myself permission to take a step back and then kick it into gear when I finally became ready.
Meal planning suffered, which in a way was nice, but after a month of it, I am so ready to get back aboard! I am not very good at winging it when it comes to feeding a family.
Exercise and minimizing sweets. WHAT? Christmas severely knocked me off track, and I decided not to force it but to just wait until my brain and body started telling me to reassert healthy habits. I think I am alllmost there. For me, fitness and motherhood go hand in hand. I am a much better mother, wife, and homemaker when I am working out! It allows me to feel in control of myself, which spills over into every other area of my life.
So, here's what I'm hoping February will look like:
- More work-out sessions at home with the boys. (I think I'll resume my gym membership in March.)
- A return to my morning routine of getting myself ready for the day, making my bed, and unloading the dishwasher FIRST THING! Before the boys get too needy.
- Minimize sweets. Only bake a treat once a week.
- Meal plan Sunday nights.
- Quality family time!

Welcome, February!
I like the idea of a break after Christmas rather than rushing into goal setting. Good luck! :0)
