In case you needed a little more motivation to get started on that blog book...
Pictures!
Here's a spread of my recent book. It covers a year and a half and is 123 pages long! It includes, chronologically, the birth of both of my boys. I LOVE this book!
The front cover.
The back cover, which includes each boy's birthday.
This is the first time I opted for the 12x12 size. Granted, it's more expensive, but I was also hesitant because 12x12 books don't fit quite the same as 8x11 books in a bookshelf. (And someday I plan to have a whole slew of these blog books lined up on a shelf!)
In the end, I'm pleased as punch that I took the leap. When designing the page layouts, it is much easier to fit big, beautiful photographs on 12x12 sheets, and the book itself has such a substantial feel (kind of like a professional wedding album). If I had a coffee table (and if I had bought an extra copy that I didn't mind getting handled frequently by toddlers!), this would be the perfect book for it.
I'd say it was well worth the hours I spent laying out the pages. But stay tuned for a review of another blog book printer, blog2print. The advantage of their service is that less customization equals a quicker end result.
I hesitated to say it in my last post about blog books for fear of sounding too self-promoting, but another option is to pay me to do it! That's how much I enjoy making these babies. :) So if you're overwhelmed or uninterested in making your own, please feel free to contact me: letwhylead (at) gmail (dot) com.

I've been really wanting to get our family blog into a book however, each time a start I feel very overwhelmed and quit. Yours turned out so cute! Love it.
ReplyDeleteBlog2print might be a great option for you, then, because it automatically lays out each blog post to look just like your actual posts. Either way, it is so worth it! Stick with it!
DeleteI started on the other night, but I got a lot of errors on my photos (resolution). I don't want them to print TINY, but I don't want them to be grainy and blurry either. Any tips on that?
ReplyDeleteHi Erica! I make a 12x12 Shutterfly book every year with all of our family pictures - and they are my TREASURE!!! Hoping to finish last year's this week!
ReplyDeleteHi Erica - just thought I'd drop you another line and let you know that I made a book last night of our first year of full time RVing. I should have my book by March 19th! You were so right - it was so simple to do and my new book will be 165 pages long! Will be sure to share it with a post on my blog after it comes in. Thanks for letting us know we can do this with our blog (and for dropping by my little corner of the "blog land" - hope you'll come back often!).
ReplyDeleteCarol, that is fantastic! I'm so glad you will have that piece of history now in book form! And man, you were quick! Congrats! I do hope you'll post pictures once you have it in hand!
DeleteThese books are lovely! Great keepsake!
